On Friday night, Caster Semenya took to her Instagram page and posted a written statement. In the statement, she first went on memory lane on how she was challenged to compete at Olympics after watching 2008 Beijing Olympics Games on television. She added that her first international medal in 800m was 2008 Commonwealth Youth Game in India. Then went ahead to thank her team and all those who stood and believe in her.
Caster further explained the challenge ahead but ready to weather them. She then confirm that in other to compete at highest level, she will be making a switch to 200m and ready to work harder to achieve the qualification and compete at Tokyo Olympics. She was earlier today in provincial Championship final in Pretoria cracked her 200m 23.81s personal best recorded last week down to 23.49s.
In the same provincial championship, Munyai Clarence ran 20.48s to win his 200m final.
