In the latest suspension announced by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), the Kenyan marathon runner, Racheal Mutgaa, has been banned for three years for testing positive for testosterone.
In a statement shared by AIU on Twitter, samples picked from the marathoner showed presence and use of a prohibited substance. “Therefore, on 3 August 2021, the AIU notified the Athlete of the Adverse Analytical Finding in accordance with Article 5.1.2.1 of the ISRM, including that the Adverse Analytical Finding may result in Anti-Doping Rule Violations pursuant to Rule 2.1 ADR and/or Rule 2.2 ADR and of the imposition of an immediate Provisional Suspension,” AIU said in a statement.
Mutgaa last race was in May when she competed in the Women’s Marathon in Milan, Italy, where she took the second position.
The 32-year-old made a name for herself when she won the DOZ Lodz Marathon, with the greatest highlight of her career coming in 2019 when she set a course record to win the Hannover Marathon.
