Wayde van Niekerk, the Olympics Champion and world record holder was gutted early today when he tested positve to covid-19. He will be the first high athletics personality to have tested positive to covid-19.
The South Africa sprinter was billed to run later today, Saturday in both 100 and 400, at the Trieste meeting in Italy before he tested positive to Covid-19. The 400 WR holder arrived in Italy the 19 July for a training stage in Gemona del Friuli, norhwest of Udine. His participation has been put on hold.
