The Olympics postponement and covid-19 lockdown everywhere has dealt a heavy blow on the South Sudan athletes who evaded their country to train in Maebashi, Japan in preparation for postponed Tokyo Olympics.
The city of Maebashi decided to host a South Sudan athletes as a training assistance as part of it’s effort to promote peace through sport. The team comprised of a coach, a female and 2 male Olympics sprinters and a Paralympics sprinter.
But the athletes and their coach determined to put the disappointment of Olympics Postponement behind them, and decided to turn it around for their gain. They were happy they are training now while the whole world is not.
Even the state of emergency declared in Japan on Tuesday did not apply to some area. The city Maebashi which is located in Gunma Prefectu is not affected.
