Akani Simbine of South Africa has confirmed that he’s man to beat come London World Athletics Championship later this year. The man who has ran sub-ten four times this year did not dissapoint this evening by completely dusted a strong field made up of Gatlin and Powel. He surged to 9.99s to win the 100m at Doha Diamond league beating Asafa Powel to second{10.08s}, Femi Ogonode was third in 10.13s and Justin Gatlin placing fourth in a time of 10.14s. Kim collins came last in a time of 10.33s.
Blessing Okagbare was not in her best form in her second race of the year. She came 6th in 200m in a time of 23.14s, a little slower than her 22.83s run last week. The race was won by Olympics champion Elaine Thompson in 22.19s and Dafne Schippers second in 22.45s while Ivory Coast Marie Talou was third in 22.77s.
Javelin produces another excitement of the evening when Thomas Rohler threw 93.90m which took him second in all time list.
