British Olympic Association Not Happy With Top Athletes Legal Challenge

The British Olympic Association has received with a shock a legal letter which has 5 top British athletes as claimant. The athletes are Mo Farah, Katarina Johnson-Thompson, Laura Muir and Adam Gemili. It will be recalled that these athletes sued the International Olympic Committee over sponsorship regulation. Argue that the IOC rule over individual sponsors reduces potential earnings.

But despite the BOA encouraging meeting with the athlete representative last week; have been dismayed by the ongoing legal case which they cruelly learnt through the media. The association maintained that they are looking for a positive outcome that equate the desire for individual athletes to maximize their personal sponsorship revenue with the need to preserve and enhance a system that has collectively sold rights for the benefit of the whole of Team GB.

The BOA also added that it is clearly not in the interest of any party to enter into a protracted legal dispute ahead of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
