Competing on day one of the two-day meet at the pre-departure training camp in Cairns, Australia champion, Linden Hall produced highlight perfomance by clocking her second-fastest time of 4:00.00 in a mixed 1500m race in Cairns on Sunday.
“I haven’t run the 1500m since Nationals so it was nice to dip the toes in and remember what it feels like before Tokyo,” Hall said.“The time was my second fastest I’ve ever run and I can’t ask for much more than that going into the Olympics, particularly given it was on a windy afternoon in Cairns.”
Elsewhere, in Aoba Park Athletic Field, Chitose (JPN) in the Hokuren Distance Challenge series on Friday (17); five Japanese national record was recorded.
Hiroki Minamoto tied the 800m national record with 1:45.75 while Kazuki Kawamura did same by breaking the 1500m with a time of 3:35.42. Nozomi Tanaka also followed suit, breaking her own 1500m national record with 4:04.08. Also, 17-year-old Caroline Kariba broke the 3000m high school girls’ national record with 8:47.85 and while James Muoki won the 5000 in 13:19.92.
