On the third day of European U-20 Championship on Saturday (17), the Kadriorg Stadium was beamed into life as Rashidat Adeleke cough out a magnificent athletics display.
An European U-20 leader with 22.96s, Adeleke in scintillating form rounded over the sprint double win in 200m; adding to 100m she won yesterday. In the process setting a new national record of 22.90s. The second position went to Dutch Minke Bisschops who returned 23.55s and third to British Eduan Success after finishing in 23.62s personal best.
The 100/200m double had not been achieved at this championships since Estonia 2011, in the same Kadriorg stadium when British Jodie Williams accomplished the feat.
In the men 200m, Irish McDonnell Robert was fifth in 21.18s in a race won by British Kinlock Derek who ran 20.72s personal best.
