Suguru Osako Humbled Galen Rupp As Fast Mason Ferlic Wins Steeplechase At Portland

At the Olympics tune up Portland Track Festival on Friday (28), which was the first day of two days event threw up some surprises result.

The American 10000m record holder, Galen Rupp was turned to a pedestria by Japanese 5000m record holder, Suguru Osako. Just when everybody thought Rupp has it in the back with 400m left; then various drama took over. First, Osako went into new gear to pass Rupp and that was how Jacob Thompson summon courage to pass the great athlete at 200m.

Eventually, Osako won 27:56.44 to Rupp 28:00.37 and Thompson 27:57.

In the steeplechase, Mason Ferlic won a strong field in impressive 8:18.79 while Benard Keter 8:20.40 and third place by Sean McGorty 8:22.75.
