Ghanaian Azamati Wins NCAA II Sprint Double

All African Games Gold Medalist and Ghana 100m and 200m record holder, Benjamin Azamati emerged the sprint double champion of NCAA division two outdoor 2021 Championship on Saturday (29) at Grand Valley state of Michigan.

In the 100m, Azamati gazetted to lead right from the block to win in 10.02s (1.8) and later destroyed the 200m field to notch up the second win in 20.23s (2.3).

On March 26th in Texas, Azamati made history by breaking a 22-year Ghana national record held by Leo Myles Mills by clocking 9.97 seconds to qualify him for the Tokyo Summer Olympics. 

Then last month improved the 200m national record to 20.13s. Subsequently Mustafa Ussif, the Ghana Sports Minister and Dr Bella Bello Bitugu, the Director of the University of Ghana Sports Directorate, congratulated Benjamin Azamati on the national feat.
