(CAS) has rejected appeals from El Mahjoub Dazza and Gomathi Marimuthu against their respective four-year doping suspensions.
Morocco’s marathon runner, El Mahjoub Dazza and Indian 800m runner Gomathi Marimuthu who were both banned in 2020 by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), but later appealed against their sanctions to the Court of Arbitration (CAS); their appeal has now been rejected.
In a ruling by CAS, despite upholding their four-year ban it has also ordered Dazza to pay CHF4,000 (£3,170/$4,440/€3.560) – CHF1,000 (£790/$1,110/€912) to the CAS and CHF3,000 (£2,380/$3,330/€2,740) to the World Athletics legal fees while Marimuthu was ordered to pay the CHF1,000 for court office’s fee and be stripped of the Asian 800m crown.
