On Saturday (24) at a local meet in Kampala capital of Uganda, the precious Jewels of Uganda locked horn over 1500m. It was fight of a pride of specialty more than anything.
The new world athletics sensation, multiple world record holder John Cheptegei stepped down to 1500m to try to cause some damage and to gain some speed while the Uganda 1500m record holder Ronald Musagala wanted to keep his only Uganda record.
At last when the bell rang for the last lap it was obvious it will be an uphill for Cheptegei to upstage the record holder. Although Cheptegei finished third but he improved his 1500m time from 3:37.82 to 3:37.76. Musagala won in 3:36.63 and Peter Kibui was second in 3:36.80.
Cheptegei currently hold world record in 5000m, 10000m, 5km and 15km.
