South Africa Championship: Clarence Munyai Scrambled To Final, Simbine Win Good And Van Niekerk Impressed

On the second day of South Africa Athletics Championship in Tshwane, a little drama ensured as South Africa 200m record holder Clarence Munyai almost not qualify for the final. In the semifinal in which 400m world record holder Van Nierkerk shone like a star he is after running 20.38s fastest semi; Munyai came third in his semi in 21.03s and only have to rely on been fastest looser to qualify.

Akani Simbine defended his title in style as he dipped under 10s to win in 9.99s. Gift Leotlela was second in 10.16s and Thembo Monoreng third in 10.33s.
