The European U-23 high jump Champion, Belarus Maksim Nedasekau defeated the reigning European Indoor Champion and former World Champion, Italian Gianmarco Tamberi to win a coveted high jump gold at the ongoing European Indoor Championship earlier today in Torun.
Tamberi was second with 2.35m clearance but made last attempt on 2.37m, the winning mark of Maksim but failed. Even attempt by Maksim to increase his winning height of 2.37m to 2.40m Championship record failed. In the process, Maksim broke Belarus national record and shot to the world lead.
Carmoy Thomas of Belgium was third with 2.26m clearance.
