Commonwealth Medalist Weightman Missed British Record With Personal Best

In blustery damp weather in Wigan earlier today, Laura Weightman find it difficult to summon the hostile condition to break Paula Radcliffe’s best for 5,000m on the road, 14 min 57 secs.

The inform Laura was able to recorded new personal best of 15 minutes 10 second. She beat Jessica Hull by 40s to second place while Amelia Quirk was third.

American Eric Jenkins enjoys a runaway win in the Fast 5km on a wet and windy night in Wigan in 13:52 with Adam Clarke second in 13:57 followed by Adam Craig, Jamie Crowe & Callum Hawkins.

The Fast 5K is a road race opportunity for elite men and women over a flat, fast, secure route. Only 30 competitors took part in each of the men’s and women’s categories due to Covid-19 restrictions.
