Mo Farah’s Right-hand British Endurance Head To Resign

The top man who played key role in Farah’s four Olympic titles becomes the latest figure caught up in the Alberto Salazar scandal to resign. Barry Fudge, the head of endurance at British Athletics, will leave his role next week.

His exit was confirmed three months after the publication of an independent report found members of the UK Athletics board had felt subjected to “in effect blackmail” by Fudge and then-performance director Neil Black – who died suddenly in April – before clearing Farah to continue working with Salazar.

In a statement issued by British Athletics, Fudge said: “It’s a difficult time for the performance team and the sport as a whole but it has been great to see British Athletics use the opportunity to push on with recruiting the new head coach and performance director ahead of Tokyo 2021.

“The time is right for me to move on and I am looking forward to watching our athletes progress and succeed at future championships.”
