Reigning World Indoor Long Jump Champion Spanovic Spakles In First Jump Of The Season

On Saturday in Novi Sad meeting, Serbian Ivana Spanovic show why she’s the reigning World Indoor Long Jump Champion by leaping a scotching 6.80m to win.

The Serbian national record holder in long jump and in 60m, has been hampered by achilles injury in the past. Spanovic even missed last year’s Doha World championships because of an injury she sustained in September at the ISTAF Berlin, less than a month before the championships started.

“We are very happy with today’s result and 6.80m is a very good performance for the opening of the season,” her coach Goran Obradovic told Serbian media. “We consider this as ‘controlled training’ as it was necessary to know in what shape Ivana is at this stage. This is a good sign and we look forward to being ready to jump seven metres once the Diamond League meetings start.”
