The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has came out to ban the All African Game 2019 Champion in the 10,000m Berehanu Wendemu Tsegu for 4 years after tested positive to blood-boosting drug erythropoietin EPO. His positive sample was taken after he came third in Copenhagen Half marathon on 15 September where he set new personal best 59.22s.
The 20 years, 2019 Yangzhou Jianzhen International Half Marathon Champion had initially denied any knowledge of taking the EPO, saying “he was not aware how the drug could have entered his body.”But now, he has acknowledged the World Anti-Doping (WADA) rule violations and accepted the ban.
