Former NCAA Champion Bagged Four Years Ban For Doping Offence

— In the ruling by Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) which was published yesterday; a former 2017 NCAA javelin Champion Ioannis Kyriazis has been handed a four years ban. The Greek javelin Champion failed a doping test in an out-of-competition sample taken at April 2019 at College Station, Texas.

The 24 years six footer, who placed sixth at the 2017 world championships and who has a personal best of 88.01m; tested positive for the steroid-like muscle builder Ligandrol. Although he claimed he was accidentally contaminated by a prohibited substance used by a housemate for bodybuilding; the claim that was dismissed in his disciplinary hearing conducted in London.

He’s now banned till May 2023. Kyriazis won the 2017 NCAA title while representing Texas A&M.
