Twenty-three years old double Olympic bronze medalist; Canadian De Grasse has withdrawn from World Athletics championship due to start tommorrow after he suffered hamstring strain few days ago during practice.
De Grasse himself wrote these on his facebook: “To my fans and supporters, earlier this week in practice I suffered a hamstring tear that has forced me to withdraw from the World champonship. Injuries are part of the sport but the timing of this one is especially unfortunate while am in the best shape of my life and extremely disappointed that I will not have the chance to compete for my country in London”.
In his absent, Canada hope in the 100m and 200m now lies on Aaron Brown{200m}, Brendon Rodney{100m} and Gavin Smellie{100m}. The 200m is now more open than ever, with Van Wayde leading quatermillers onslaught vs Yohan Blake leading the sprinters.
