The woman who many regarded as the most talented sprinter to have ever comes out of Nigeria; Blessing Okagbare. She lifted up to expectation this afternoon on the first day of July{the month of complete blessing}. Brushed aside her lack of early form which was evident in perfomance this season in 100m{11.16s}, 200m{22.83s} and in long jump{6.53m}. But earlier today at Paris Diamond league{no point is attached to it}, she was on fire against the double olympics champion Elaine Thompson of Jamaica. Blessing produced her season best in 100m to fly to 11.09s season best to come third behind Elaine Thompson-10.91s and in-form Ta lou Marie-Josen of Ivory Coast-10.96s. It was a race of confidence boosting than fast time for Okagbare- Ighoteguonor. And she perfectly did justice to that by beating two other world class athletes and her arch rival- Ahoure Muriere of Ivory Coast and America Indoor champion Akinosun Morolake who has even run faster than Blessing this year. Ahoure was fourth{11.10s} and Morolake seventh{11.27s}
In the men, 2016 Olympics 100m finalist Meite Ben Youssef of Ivory Coast won the race in his new season best of 9.99s beating the Cuban strong man Perez Yunier who also ran a new season best of 10.05s. Kim Collins was unfortunately disqualified for false starting.
