But were sturned when Van Niekerk electrified the stadium in the 300m when he broke 300m World best held by Micheal Johnson since year 2000. He ran 30.81s to erase 30.85s record by Micheal Johnson. He also shattered meet record of 30.97s held by Usain Bolt.
Bolt later won his 100m race in a slow time of 10.06s. Marie Ta Lou of Ivory Coast won the 200m female with a time of 22.44s.
