Nigerian athletes sparkle all across the globe, including both local and foreign athletes through out the weekend. It is a long time we have witness such a high perfomances from Nigeria athletes across the globe.
It all started at home on Saturday {3rd} during the second classics which was held in Abuja. Unknown Samson Oghenewegba Nathaniel shot to number 26th in the world ranking by running a scintillating 45.23s to win the Abuja 400m classics. As if that is not enough, the fast Yinka Ajayi also stopped the clock in a impressive 51.59s to win the Abuja classics in 400m female; thereby make her 22nd in the world ranking.
On the same day in Marseille France, Blessing Okagbare fired 11.17s to destroy a strong 100m field. Then on the same Saturday in Brazil, the duo of Margaret Bamgbose and Patience George also had good perfomance in 400m at Grande Premo Brasil De Atletismo. Margaret Bamgbose won the race in 51.57s while Patience Okon George came third in 52.27s.
Then finally on Sunday{4th}, Eze Brume was at Adidas Boost Boston Games in US. In the long jump, she came third behind Shara Proctor of Great Britain{6.73m} and Britney Howell of Jamaica{6.55m} by jumping 6.50m. It will be recalled that she has jumped 6.64m earlier in the year to lay claim to 18th in the world ranking.
