Nigeria Table Tennis Team received a boost ahead of their forth coming Liebheir 2017 World Table Tennis Championship {54th edition}; which is to be held in Dusseldorf, Germany from 29th May to 5th June 2017 when Aruna Quadri shone gallatly in Croatia open. Aruna Quadri the World no.37th player in the current May rating of International Table Tennis Federation paired Olar Benedek of Finland to beat all strong contender before been stopped in the quarter final by the Swedish pair of Brodd Victor and Nordberg Hampus by 3-2 score line. Quadri who usually play double with Assad of Egypt but with a new partner defeated beat Beat Akkuzu and Ruiz Romain of Canada 3-1 in the first round before trashing Chen Alexander and Pfeffer Simon of Austrian 3-2 in the second round. But in the third round, they beat Obeslo Michal and Sirucek Pavel of Czech republic 3-2.
But in the single, the African Champion Aruna Quadri was not lucky, he lost in the second round to Kizukuri Yuto of Japan by 4-0 score line after his terrific display in the first round when he white washed Lakatos Tamas of Hungry by 4-0.
Aggressive Omotayo Olajide of Nigeria could not scale the qualify round after he fell to Baibuldin Andrei of Russia by 4-1 score line.
