He led all way before he was caught up by insurging Noah Lyles {last year under 20 champion in the 100m}. He eventually came second and stopped the clock in 31.92s to set a new national record; thereby breaking Fasasi 33.09s ran in January. The race was won by 19 years old Noah Lyles of Us in a time of 31.87s WL.
South Africa growing star Akani Simbine has sent a warning signal ahead of this year World Champion. He came out smoking in his first outdoor opener on Saturday{4}. He blasted a legal 9.93s{0.04s slower than his own national record} in the 100m and later came out in 200m in the same manner by dropping 19.95s which is 0.08s slower than South African national record which was held by Anaso Jobodwana.
